The Florida Department of Corrections supervises over 100,000 inmates who are incarcerated or on some type of community supervision.

A new incoming Director faced employee turnover, low morale, obsolete technology and a lack of organizational accountability. She sought to understand the root causes and how leadership could better serve its 24,000 employees and maintain over 140 facilities statewide.

Group Solutions was engaged to conduct a statewide listening tour to gather and analyze input from staff, management and agency leadership.

At each session participants used anonymous, interactive technology to rank the impact of potential investments, provide feedback on a series of workplace concerns, and frankly express skepticism in the process.

The process highlighted critical needs and resulted in $50 million in increased appropriations for staffing, training and equipment upgrades from the Florida Legislature.
