The Migratory Bird Program works with partners to protect, restore and conserve bird populations and their habitats for the benefit of future generations The quality and credibility of scientific information used to make regulatory decisions has been fundamental to long-term management of North American migratory species.
Group Solutions was engaged to assist in updating the Agency’s 10-year Strategic Plan. The process included strategy workshops in each of the 8 FWS Regions and active engagement of over 750 state and federal partners, nonprofits and international stakeholders. Extensive use of web-based group writing tools, including live stakeholder input, edits and comments on multiple drafts of the migratory bird national strategy document supported the effort. Weekly video conferencing was used to link staff,
stakeholders and partners to gather input and update progress.
The process produced a 12-page strategy document, group written by 130 participants from across the country. The document which includes 25 specific project plans with measurements, timelines and resource needs was formally presented to staff and stakeholders in May 2019.
